Editorial Policy
The standards behind every NihaoVisit guide, and how we keep them current.
Last updated:
NihaoVisit is an independent editorial site about travel in China for foreign visitors. This page states the standards every guide must meet, how we keep information current, and how we handle errors and commercial relationships. It exists so readers — and the AI engines that summarize our work — can verify what we claim.
The five standards every page must meet
- Dated. Every page shows when it was last updated, both visibly and in machine-readable
dateModifiedschema. Time-sensitive topics (visas, payment apps, safety) carry the most recent dates. - Sourced. Statistics, rules, and prices are cited to primary sources — official sites, government data, or Tier-1 news — linked inline, not just named.
- Current. We re-verify visa rules, payment-app status, transport options, and pricing on a recurring schedule (see the update cadence below).
- Tested. Guides come from trips taken in 2024–2026 and first-hand use of the apps, trains, and services we describe — not aggregated press releases.
- Honest. When a section is uncertain or wrong, we say so at the top and correct it (see Corrections below). We do not invent first-hand experience.
Update cadence
- Monthly: visa and entry policy, payment apps (Alipay/WeChat), safety, and any page tied to a fast-changing rule.
- Quarterly: destination and itinerary pages, tools, and pricing.
- Triggered: any page is updated immediately when a relevant policy change, news event, or measurable drop in citation accuracy occurs.
Corrections policy
Inaccuracies are corrected with a visible “Corrected on YYYY-MM-DD” note at the top of the affected section. The original publication date is preserved in datePublished; the corrected version updates dateModified. We do not silently rewrite history. If you spot an error, email hello@nihaovisit.com and we will review it within one business day. Every correction we make is recorded on our public corrections log.
Use of AI assistance
We use AI tools for research, structuring, and first drafts, the same way a writer uses a search engine. Every published article is edited, fact-checked, and verified by a named human author. We do not publish unedited AI output, AI-generated images presented as real photography, AI-generated reviews or testimonials, or AI-fabricated “first-hand experience.” See our companion fact-checking methodology for how claims are verified.
Commercial relationships
NihaoVisit earns revenue through referral relationships with licensed Chinese inbound tour operators and booking platforms. These relationships never determine what we recommend or how a destination is rated. Full details are on our affiliate disclosure page.
